For the Greater Groove
This short work was commissioned by and dedicated to Chris Norton and the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra. This is their first commission and it commemorates 15 years as an organization and 10 with their current music director, Chris Norton. My hope was to write something for them which would highlight the difficult yet satisfying personal sacrifice that each member of the orchestra makes for the sake of the whole, a sum greater than the total of its individual parts.
