Scuttlebutt - September 20

By the time you read this, we will probably have performed the first of 2 nights with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at the Konserthuset here in Stockholm, playing the "heartbreakingly beautiful" (Wall Street Journal) "The Dharma at Big Sur" by John Adams.

And you can watch the concert live for free on Thursday at noon central time, (7pm Stockholm, 1pm eastern.) Or watch the replay which will be available starting Oct 22 at the same time.

This week it's "Dharma", but backstage I'm also practicing "Ficciones", the concerto by Roberto Sierra that I premiered last year, because next week I'm playing it with the Bryan Symphony in Cookeville, TN.

Hanging with another former student, Mike Lucarelli, who happens to be in Stockholm this year on a Fulbright Scholarship studying nickelharp and Swedish folk music, to go along with his deep background in Spanish folk music (he's been studying in Spain for the last several years) and Arabic and Turkish folk music. My students are so much smarter than me!
