So glad my big brother from Turtle Island, Darol Anger, is now a fellow Nashville resident!
He's easily the most influential violinist in my life--Darol showed me and a lot of other string players what was possible on a violin way back in the previous millennium. He taught me how to chop, and pretty much the entire Strum Bowing Method was inspired by standing next to him onstage and in rehearsals and watching him up close for many years in TISQ.
He's also a famous organizer of hangs like this one at The Violin Shop in Nashville, my home for repairs and rehairs. The premise was to check out a new amp from NS Designs, (Scuttlebutniks may recall it as the very same one I was trying at Ned Steinberger's place back in late June,) but it soon devolved into an instrument-sampling fest, and that's sampling in the old school sense of everybody playing everybody else's fiddles, including some of the sweeter chunks of lumber hanging on the walls.
