Hey music lovers!

Here's a little behind-the-scenes look at creating the violin part for the new Roberto Sierra electric violin concerto, "Ficciones".

I won't have time to memorize this brand-new, 30 page violin concerto, so I'll need a clear, readable violin part onstage. The readability of the music can have a major impact on the performance. It takes weeks of continual changes to bowings, fingerings, etc., with a constant back and forth from my computer to my ipad. Click the image to see the video.

I ran this last week, but in case the video above whets your appetite and you didn't get a chance to actually read the article last week, here it is again. Thanks to Strings Magazine! The premiere will be with the American Symphony Orchestra on June 5 at Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC.

If you're a fan of the For the Greater Groove Podcast, you'll appreciate this wonderful chat with Diana Ladio, one half of the Moxie Strings duo. We talk about all that teaching and playing stuff, but then we get to the main part of the show, the Not My Gig segment, where I ask the Moxie Strings violinist how much she knows about...the Moxy Hotel.
