Hi music lovers!

I'm in northern Ohio this week working with the wonderful kids at Highland Middle and High Schools and their intrepid music director, Rachel Gamin. They commissioned a new string orchestra piece from me called "Jammin' with Gamin" which we will premiere Thursday night at our concert together. It's always so gratifying to contribute directly to the future of strings by working with these talented young people and, as always, my respect for classroom string teachers and the dedicated work they do just gets deeper and more profound. Thanks to the Highland Foundation for making this concert, and others like it, possible!
I am fortunate to be working with Connolly Music, who provide me with all my favorite Thomastik Infeld strings. Good tone is everything, and strings are the first stage in that signal chain. And because different strings are optimized for different uses and styles, it's necessary for me to periodically review all the different string options to make sure I'm getting the best possible tone out of my electric instruments. The demands of this new Roberto Sierra concerto are quite different from other pieces such as the Dharma at Big Sur, so the last few weeks have seen a lot of string changes as I narrow it down to the best fit for this new piece I am about to perform and record.
