I was in Maine last week and had the opportunity to visit the legendary and groundbreaking instrument designer Ned Steinberger at his Maine home/workshop. He is developing a 6 string electric violin to add to the NS Designs line of electric string instruments and I was happy to give him some feedback on this important addition to the 6-string world.
Many of you may have heard my frequent rants that the future of violin will be 6-string. My entire career has been devoted to this idea because as strings become more integrated in our contemporary popular musical culture, I believe the violin's role will more closely align with the guitar, which has that critical extra lower octave. So I am thrilled to be helping in any way to bring high quality 6-string instruments like these to string players everywhere! |
