At the Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp this week, teaching, performing and hanging with some of my best and oldest musical friends. Mark and I go back to 1980 when we built my first 6-string electric violin together and we've been supporting each other's careers ever since.
I remember working on that instrument with Mark in his workshop when he said, "One day, kids are going to be playing air-violin instead of air-guitar!" and we've been blood brothers ever since. What a gratifying experience to see all these young string players crowding the stage playing air-violin just like we pictured it all those years ago! Congrats, Mark, on MWROC year 14! |
With my buddy Joe Deninzon, who just got the gig as the new violinist in Kansas! (That is his index finger.) |
with Brooke Alford and cellist/bassist extraordinaire Greg Byers after playing together at a faculty concert Monday night. |
Tune in tonight to see the Wednesday faculty concert! Matt Vanacoro has an amazing set planned and mine will include Toby Silverman on guitar, with Joe Deninzon, Chuck Bontrager, Matt Bell, Greg Byers and Matt Vanacoro!
