My guest on the For the Greater Groove Podcast this week is composer Roberto Sierra. Roberto has been composing an electric violin concerto for me over the last several months called Ficciones, which will premiere on June 5 in NYC with the American Symphony. I have been receiving little gifts of new music every week as Roberto has been composing his way through the piece, which is based on short stories by the Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. We get together nearly every week for a zoom call to play and discuss the new sections, so I thought I would have him on the show so he can explain why the piece is so blazingly fast and difficult.
I'm proud to be descending into FIddle Hell Online once again this year. I'll be hosting a couple of sessions on Strum Bowing and Rhythm String Playing, and doing a few tunes on the Epic Saturday Night Concert.

This week I've been composing a string orchestra piece for the Highland Local Schools in Medina, OH. I worked with Rachel Martin Gamin and her wonderful kids last year online, and I'll be doing a 3 day residency with them this May to perform this piece, among a few others. The title? "Jammin' with Gamin"!
