Exploring the limitless possibilities of what he calls “post-classical violin playing”, Tracy Silverman’s groundbreaking work with the 6-string electric violin synthesizes his eclectic background in classical, rock, jazz and world music into an evening-length performance that is as entertaining as it is astonishing.
Silverman’s eclectic repertoire is a genre-bending solo tour de force of stylistic breadth and emotional depth. Utilizing electronics and live loop recording (but never pre-recorded backing tracks,) Silverman mixes his jazzy and rock-inflected originals with unique “de-rangements” of music from Bach to Hendrix, from Beethoven to Stevie Wonder, from the Beatles to Jean Luc Ponty, and from the music of Brazil to his solo arrangements of concertos written for him by John Adams, Terry Riley and others.
